Why invest in your relationship's future?
Attending as a couple means you're both informed, both involved, and both prepared, saving you £££.
You'll support each other through the course, keep each other on track afterwards, and build a network of friends who truly get it.
Plus, you might even have some fun along the way!
Save individually - retire together
Throughout your working life, you've been saving for pensions and paying taxes as individuals, usually through your workplace. But when you retire, it's about your joint income and your shared future.
Get on the same page
Let's be honest – in most couples, one person tends to handle the finances while the other... well, doesn't. That's fine until life happens. As we get older, it's important that both of you have a basic understanding.
Carve out time in busy lives
Life gets busy. Between work, family responsibilities, and everything else, it's rare to dedicate focused time to your shared future. Working toward a common goal can bring you closer together.
Talk about your plans
Money conversations can be tricky at the best of times. Having these conversations now, with expert guidance and practical information, means you can plan together.
Make new couple friends
You might have plenty of local friends, but are they finishing work at the same time as you? Do they want to do the same things in retirement?
Do something together
As we get older, socialising tends to revolve around our own friendship groups. When was the last time you did something new as a couple?
We make it straightforward, sociable and dare we say it – even enjoyable.
Come ready to learn, laugh and leave with a plan.

If you went to NCT or antenatal classes...
It might have been one of the few times you sat down together to really think about the massive changes coming to your relationship.
Plus, you met people at the same stage of life, living locally, friendships that carried you through maternity leave and beyond.
The class teacher, although not the doctor or midwife, guided the expectant parents through all they needed to know, giving them more confidence for the next step.
Fast forward to now...
WhenI'm gives you that same focused time, with experts and friends, but for your next big life changes.
You might have plenty of local friends, but are they finishing work at the same time as you? Is you partner retiring? Do they want to do the same things in retirement?
Like antenatal classes, WhenI’m brings people at the same stage in life together, because we believe people learn better together with real help from real people, who’ve been there too.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our classes are in-person, expert-led, and held in relaxed local cafes and bars. Sessions are structured but friendly and informal. Each class is two hours long, to give you time to cover the topics in depth, ask questions and do any in-session practical research.
No. A notepad and pen is all you need – but feel free to bring your laptop if you want to look at your accounts or go online during the class. Equally, you may want to stay offline for a couple of hours and do the online bits back at home.
No. Just as in antenatal classes you don’t have to tell your classmates your medical details, there’s no need to disclose the details or amounts of your own finances in the classes. The rules around pensions are roughly the same if you have between £10k and £1 million in pension savings (except for the tax!), so we can have practical, in-depth discussions without going into specific amounts. Only share what you are comfortable with.
Our classes are held in cafes and bars and each class includes the costs of a soft drink/tea or coffee.
We keep class sizes relatively small (between ten to twenty people) so everyone has enough time to ask questions, cover the topics and have a cuppa and a chat in between.
Yes, there probably will! You may need to set up online accounts, call or email providers or work through things in your own time. The weekly classes will keep the momentum going, give you the confidence to make those calls and help you to get things sorted.
Attending as a couple means you're both informed, both involved, and both prepared. You'll support each other through the course, make decisions together and keep each other on track afterwards.
No. We’re not selling products, giving financial advice (as defined by the FCA) or taking commissions. We’re here to give guidance, education and support to help you get to grips with your pensions and retirement planning. We will always show you a range of options and will not give individual tailored financial advice. We will give you the tools and confidence to find the right on-going help for you.
